What is happening in Afghanistan?

20 million Afghans are on the brink of famine

97% of Afghans will be living below the poverty line

Economic supply chains are cut off

Many are currently facing food insecurity and hunger

Just four months after the withdrawal of the U.S. military, more than 20 million Afghans are on the brink of famine.

According to the United Nations, by the middle of this year 97% of Afghans will be living below the poverty line. Because of the unstable political situation, economic supply chains are cut off, and many Afghans are being left to fend for themselves.

Many are currently facing food insecurity and hunger. They are facing their second drought in three years, and approaching famine-like conditions. This situation is rapidly getting worse as time goes by.

The goal of the program is to ensure families receive enough food to eat at least 3 times a day, inclusive of healthy food items to ensure they have a healthy diet.

What are we doing to help?

Our response includes providing food vouchers, cash for food, and food parcels that will be directly given to families in need to ensure they have enough food for them to have a healthy diet. If food markets are limited in regions of operations, families will be given food parcels to last them one month.
